Dooley Wool is situated in County Offaly on the Laois & Tipperary borders right at the foot of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. Our premises is beside the Dooley farm which is now on its 8th generation!

Where it All Began

Dooley’s Wool began with Seamus Dooley, a sheep farmer from Ballyduff, just outside Roscrea in County Tipperary. In 1950, Seamus started shearing sheep across the Irish midlands to earn extra income, building relationships with farmers that would shape the business for generations to come.

By 1955, he had begun buying wool directly from the farmers he knew and trusted. Over the decades, those relationships grew into a nationwide wool trade rooted in honesty, hard work, and respect for Irish farming.

In 2005, Seamus officially established Dooley Wool Ltd alongside his sons Kevin and Fergus. What started with one man and a pair of shears became a family business built around Irish wool and the people behind it.

The Family Today

Today, the business is run by Kevin Dooley and his wife Noreen. Kevin grew up surrounded by sheep farming, wool, and the seasonal rhythm of rural Ireland. Together with Noreen, they helped shape the next chapter of the business, moving beyond exporting raw wool and beginning to create Irish wool bedding here at home.

Their vision was simple: if Irish farmers were producing exceptional wool, why shouldn’t it stay in Ireland and become something meaningful here too?

Kevin Dooley also continues to lead the export side of the business, carrying forward another important part of what Seamus first built. Together, the family continues to grow the company while staying true to its roots in Ballyduff and the farming communities around it.

What We Believe

We believe where something comes from matters. Every duvet and pillow we make begins on an Irish farm, with wool sourced directly from farmers we know personally. Many of those relationships go back generations.

We also believe people should know the story behind what they buy. That’s why every Dooley’s Wool product includes a QR code linking you directly to the farmer whose wool is inside. A real farm, a real family, and a real connection to the land.

For us, this is about more than bedding. It is about supporting Irish farming, valuing natural materials, and creating products with honesty, traceability, and care at their heart.

From Seamus in 1950 to today, that belief has remained the same: keep it honest, keep it local, and make something worth passing on.
